Introduced: October 1996
Terminated: 1997

Description

The Color LaserWriter 12/660 PS was a laser printer running an AMD 29030 processor at 30Mhz.  It used the Adobe PostScript Level 2 interpreter and communicated via LocalTalk, Ethernet or a Parallel port.  It could print 12 black and white pages or three color pages a minute with a DPI or 600.  There was 8Mb or ROM and the RAM was expandable to 40Mb.

History

The Color LaserWriter 12/660 PS was the newest in Apple’s high-end line of color laser printers.  Like those before it, it was a very expensive machine.  It was also large an heavy.  For such an expensive machine, the printing speed was not very good.  It was also expensive to operate and maintain.  Even with these difficulties, the Color LaserWriter 12/660 PS was a standard color laser printer found at Kinko’s copy stores across the country.
